New Seasons

Maybe I didn't want to let it go.
But for whatever reason, I only just yesterday packed up our Christmas decorations.
Yesenia and Catalina were elsewhere, so Alexa and I rocked out to some 70s Classics.
And soon enough, a whole season of Joy was tucked into 3 big plastic boxes.
Chunks of bright red and green yielded to our basic black-and-white decor.
Our knick-knacks barely accented areas that were once crowded with Christmas items.
And it served to magnify the notion that something was missing.
For someone who preaches that every day is Christmas, it was a little conflicting.
If I had my druthers, we'd have a tree up year-round.
And there'd be nothing unusual about singing "Joy to the World" in August.
But lo and behold, our home is full again, almost bursting at the seams.
Yesenia's voice lilts gently over the clatter of kitchen activity.
Catalina's giggles elicit smiles and her friends add to the cacophony of joyous noise.
Relatives and friends keep the conversation as lively as ever.
And I don’t need the bright reds and greens to feel the spirit of life around me.
Another season is underway
And I'd best get into it.
