Misioneros Cristianos Unidos and A Couple of Christians Foundation (MCU-Guatemala) serves needy folks in and around Guatemala City.
We provide meals to children, hand out groceries and other assistance to families, and respond to disasters small and large.
But our mission is to spread Jesus' Love and Hope.
We believe helping other folks is the best way to do that, and if our actions lead those folks or others to Christ, that's just awesome.
We Work Wherever we can help, including these places:
La Cuchilla is a small neighborhood lost between the capital city and Villa Nueva. Indecision regarding the boundaries of this community, which was originally populated by displaced victims of the country's civil war, leaves them with no school or other services.
Working out of the Ciudad de Refugio church, we took over an existing children's ministry in this neighborhood of concrete and metal homes. We feed about 125 children from 72 families from La Cuchilla and 3 attached fincas.
Besides feeding children, we provide some Bible story lessons, as well as social and health sessions.
The calendar is punctuated by missionary visits and special guests, as well as special events for birthdays, Children's Day, and Christmas.
We are active in this church, and provide breakfast for their Sunday School class participants. And we also host an active women's ministry for the mothers and others.
La Isla is another of Guatemala City's poorer neighborhoods. Located in an area called Santa Fe, La Isla gets its name because it is accessible only by a single-lane bridge.
Our volunteers on La Isla, a family of 6 sisters, cook and serve meals right on the street. We provide food and supplies for the team and hope to upgrade their cooking facilities in 2023.
We include the 150 kids in La Isla in all of our special events. Besides the children, we try to provide about 14-16 senior citizens with groceries each month, too.
Finca La Naranja is another neighborhood we support with a children's feeding program. We provide food, supplies, and other assistance to a bustling 5-day-a-week operation for about 60 children and a handful of seniors.
We also provide some children with a breakfast snack before school. These are kids diagnosed as malnourished to the point that it affected their learning abilities.
We recently constructed a new kitchen for this program. That helped our La Naranja program become a community center and resource called on to assist families in crisis with meals.
Obrajuelo is a neighborhood in Jocotillo and the latest addition to our family of children's ministries.
The well-established church community there hosts children's education sessions each Saturday, each of which includes a meal time.
We are happy to provide food assistance and are ready to add teaching materials for the coming year. We have also been invited to teach and preach on occasion.
And we look forward to growing this relationship.

Our mission is to spread God's love through His Word, through our words, through our works, and with His help. Our goal is to help people get through acute and chronic crises by introducing (or reminding) them of the Hope and Love Jesus offers.
